Nursing Foundation Lab

The Nursing Foundation Lab provides hands-on training in essential nursing skills, patient care, and infection prevention. Students learn and practice basic procedures in a realistic hospital-like setup under faculty supervision.

Objectives:

  • To help students develop fundamental nursing competencies.

  • To train students in patient hygiene, positioning, and vital signs monitoring.

  • To demonstrate aseptic techniques and safe waste management.

  • To promote critical thinking and clinical decision-making in patient care.

  • To build confidence through simulation-based learning before real clinical exposure.

Key Activities:

  • Hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Measurement of temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.

  • Bed-making and patient transfer techniques.

  • Wound dressing, injection simulation, and catheter care.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) demonstrations using manikins.

Facilities Available:

  • Hospital beds and CPR manikins.

  • BP apparatus, stethoscopes, and pulse oximeters.

  • Dressing kits, instrument trays, and handwashing stations.

  • Waste segregation bins for infection control.
